Education
Each student arrives at Wellspring with a unique level of knowledge, skills and academic abilities. Many of our students performed well academically in the past and then slipped behind due to a variety of factors such as emotional or family issues, drug and alcohol use, or poor attendance. Once academic ability and needs are determined through testing, an educational plan is developed to help the student progress and experience academic success.
With a staff of exceptional teachers and teacher assistants and a solid emphasis on the essential courses, English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Foreign Language, and the Arts, students become motivated to excel and see academics as the key to a bright future. Our faculty is hired for their outstanding teaching skills as well as their ability to deal effectively with students with special needs. Their priorities include helping students develop self-esteem, initiative and self-control, as well as building a solid academic foundation.
Through the emotional growth process, students are taught to be accountable for their own actions, and this includes performance in the classroom. With the support of academic and mentoring staff and their peers, students become motivated to do their best in all aspects of life, including academics. Many of our graduates continue their educations in colleges and universities.
